Once you’ve decided to buy a vaporizer, you likely want to start using it right away. For many people, this means jumping into using it before they really know what they’re doing. Often, vaporizers are left sitting with residue still sitting inside. This is especially the case in portable models.
After all, you can bring a portable model with you everywhere and after an evening of enjoying your favorite material, you may forget to clean it out afterward. This might not cause any problems at first, but over time, it can seriously degrade the quality of the vapor.
You see, vapor is much purer than smoke because the material isn’t burned. You’re not inhaling any harmful carcinogens released in smoke. Instead, you’re just getting the pure vapor from the substance. While you may not get the same health detriments from an improperly cleaned device, you won’t get as pure a vapor and you may use up your material faster than you would otherwise.
When it comes to cleaning portable vaporizers, you should do so every time you use it. So, this means rinsing out the reservoir with hot soapy water and avoiding getting any water in the motor. You should also only use distilled water to fill up the reservoir.
This is enough for everyday maintenance. But if you use your device a lot, you’ll need to perform weekly cleanings as well. To perform this deeper cleaning, empty out the reservoir all the way and clean it out with hot soapy water. Next, set the device so that it makes a mist. Add white vinegar. Run it for about 30 minutes. Make sure a fan is running and the windows are open during this time.
Empty it out and add clean water. Run the device for three more minutes. After this, dump the tap water and fill up the reservoir as you would during use. Following this set of steps ensures vaporizers remain in good working order for a long time and that you always get the purest vapor out of them. While still much safer than smoking, vaporizing with a dirty device can’t be good for you. At best, you’re getting an inferior vaporizing experience with impure vapor. At worst, you may be inhaling particulates that aren’t vapor, including mildew and dust. Things like that can cause health problems, so cleaning out your device is actually imperative. Plus, it’s an investment. You should always take care of your investments.
