Volcano vaporizers can be used with a wide variety of different herbs and you may want to experiment with different herbs and do research online to find out which are safe to use and what benefits they may have. Storz and Bickel though, who make Volcano Vaporizers, do recommend certain herbs to use with the Volcano Vaporizers and they may be a good starting point if you are new to vaporizing.
Eucalyptus is one very common plant to vaporize, it is great for getting rid of congestion and it has anti-biotic and anti-septic properties. Compared to using eucalyptus in hot water or with an over the counter products vaporizing the fresh herb will release much stronger and more effective vapors. These vapors are ideal if you have a cold or flu or generally suffer from sinus and congestion problems.
Hops and chamomile are both good herbs to use if you suffer from insomnia as they can be relaxing and let you drift off to sleep. You may also want to use one of these or a mixture at times when you are suffering from anxiety, such as before an exam or interview, as both can relieve this. The only problem with mixing chamomile and hops may be that they require slightly different vaporizing temperatures. Chamomile should ideally be set to a high temperature of around 374 Fahrenheit on the Volcano Vaporizer according to Storz and Bickel; Hops should be vaporized at around 309 degrees and should be fresh when vaporized for maximum effect, .
Lavender is also often used before sleep but this should be put into a volcano vaporizer and heated to around 266 Fahrenheit meaning it is generally not going to be a good idea to mix it with chamomile. It does have a similar temperature setting recommended though to that for Eucalyptus: meaning if you struggle to sleep due to the effects of a cold or flu a mixture of these two in your volcano vaporizer may be ideal.
Sage and thyme may seem less likely herbs to vaporize for health benefits but they have benefits that many aren’t aware of, they also both vaporize at the same temperature of 374 degrees Fahrenheit.
The active ingredients in Sage especially have been shown to have many different benefits. This includes boosting the immune system, as an anti-biotic as an anti fungal, for reducing the chance of ulcers, sore throats and for reliving bites, burns and athletes foot. Many people therefore take Sage regularly and the best results can be had by vaporizing fresh sage leaves; sage is easily grown indoors or in a window box for a constant supply. As for Thyme this can be mixed in with Sage for even more benefits and improved overall well-being or used on its own. Thyme is an anti-septic so can be good for viruses including cold and flu and certainly is good for chest infections and coughs when vaporized.
The last recommended herb for the Volcano Vaporizers if Lemon Balm, it is antiviral, this means that it is far more effective against viruses than something purely antiseptic or anti-biotic can be. If you are already suffering from a virus it may well help then, including influenza virus, cold virus and lemon balm is known to be especially effective against cold sores.
