Vaporizers give a wide range of advantages over burning herbs or tobacco to smoke or for aromatherapy. Vaporizers are a little more complicated than smoking because getting the right temperature and a constant temperature is vital so you need a constant source of heat. Some vaporizers are much more complicated but at their most basic they simply need to constantly heat a plant ingredient at a set temperature and have some way of delivering the vapors that are released.
What happens to a plant when it is heated to a point where it is vaporized is very different to what happens when a plant is burnt. Some of the same gases, scents and benefits are released with vaporizing while some by-products aren’t. The lucky fact is that the more harmful by products aren’t released making vaporizing much safer than smoking while those which have health benefits generally are.
With tobacco especially though vaporizing still lets off nicotine and some other gases the most harmful by-products including tar are not released or released in very low amounts. Even with herbs that are seen as safe compared to tobacco when burnt they will release smoke that can be toxic, carcinogenic and also irritating to the throat and lungs. With vaporizing many herbs can be used completely safely with no negative effects and often health benefits.
The best vaporizers are those that have temperature controls. The optimum temperature at which to make herbs release vapors is often close to the point at which they burn and the correct temperature isn’t the same for every herb. The importance of gaining the right temperature is also why convection heating vaporizers are best as they pass hot air through the herbs ensuring that all the herbs being used are heated equally. In vaporizers that use conduction heating some parts may overheat while other herbs get left un-used. Thermal radiation vaporizer also give a similar result to convection heating though may take longer to warm up.
Vaporizers, especially convection vaporizers and thermal radiation vaporizers, are excellent at making the most of any plant including tobacco. Tobacco will last much longer when vaporized than when burnt. That which is given off comes to the user strong and untainted and with many vaporizers the speed at which you inhale vaporizers is uy to you. With balloon vaporizers especially the vapors are put into a balloon and then inhaled over time from the balloon with the vaporizer turned off and the plant used not being wasted.
The amount of aroma that is given off into the surrounding area by a vaporizer varies. With a balloon vaporizer there may be very little. With most herbs and even tobacco though the aroma is pleasant and not noxious, smelling the same as the unheated plant but stronger. This means it shouldn’t negatively affect those in the vicinity and there is no secondhand smoke. Using a portable vaporizer instead of smoking tobacco is seen as far more thoughtful and for those not wanting to affect others in their home through use of tobacco vaporizers are also ideal.
